These are easy-to-identify buttons that are found on many remote controls. But what are they for?
There are many everyday objects that have very useful functions, but which we don’t really pay attention to because we don’t use them regularly. This is particularly the case with our television remote controls. While they have many buttons and functions, the majority of users will simply change channels, sources or play with the volume of their TV, without worrying about the other functions available on their remote control.
The red, green, yellow and blue buttons on our remote controls are thus less and less used by users, but also by the TV channels themselves. The small functions hidden behind them can nevertheless prove very practical when they are supported.
For example, the red button on your remote control, in addition to switching between upper and lower case letters on some TVs, is usually associated with online services and information about your current show. This button allows you to obtain information about the program you are currently watching on some TV boxes, but also to access additional content from some TV service providers.
The green button is dedicated to TV program planning. By pressing it with a compatible TV box, you can obtain information on upcoming programs for the channel you are on. This allows you to know if your favorite show is coming later or not! Be careful though, since these indications may not be correct in the event of exceptional rescheduling.
The yellow button is used, finally, to open menus and submenus relating to the content you are currently viewing. For a football match for example, the yellow button can allow you to obtain different statistics for the current match.
Regarding the blue button, it is usually associated with the social functions integrated into your TV or TV box. This allows you to obtain sharing options for social networks or sometimes messengers directly integrated into your device.
Keep in mind, however, that these features are those generally assigned to the remote controls of our televisions. Manufacturers can very well allocate other functions to these buttons, or even add other accesses, in particular to the SVOD services that we increasingly see on certain remote controls.
