These radars will identify a new offense from March 3

New radars will be activated on our roads in early March, fines will arrive a few weeks later.

There will be new on the roads! From the beginning of March, many motorists will have to adapt their conduct to new regulations. And beware of those who will try to break it, radars of a new kind are already installed, ready to verbalize all those who will not respect the rules. These automatic radars will not have this time to raise speeding. They will have another mission: that of controlling a system already in force in many French cities. As in Lyon, Grenoble, Strasbourg, Nantes or Rennes.

It has already been a few months that it is possible to see around Paris two types of unusual radars, different from those that we are used to crossing. The first, gray and circular in color, were manufactured by Fareco. They were established – five in number – on the peripheral boulevard which belt the capital. The second, rectangular in shape and pulling towards black, were designed by the Pryntec group and were seen around the A1 motorways (Paris-Lille) and A13 (Paris-Caen). These intelligent boxes are different but have the same function: identify vehicles that do not circulate on the right track.

From March 3, 2025, a track will indeed be dedicated to carpooling on the peripheral boulevard as well as on the first kilometers of the A1 and the A13 near Paris. Beware if you have to take these axes, the left lane will only be reserved for vehicles carrying at least two people. It will be indicated by a white diamond marked on the ground and/or by a light panel. The track will be active when the diamond is on, that is to say from 7 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., only from Monday to Friday.

You can only do not recommend playing clever people with carpooling radars. No need to install an inflatable doll in the passenger seat, these radars detect human beings using an infrared system (Fareco) or thermal cameras (Pryntec). Software with artificial intelligence then analyzes images of the passenger compartment and trigger the flash if you are alone in the vehicle. In this case, the fine, in the amount of 135 euros, is rather salty.

But rest assured, no verbalization will be carried out on March 3. The authorities wanted to set up an educational period. The first PVs will officially fall from the 1er may. Suffice to say on the 2 since the carpooling roads will not be active on public holidays (nor on weekends).
