    Be vigilant if you live or spend your vacation in Loire-Atlantique. On-demand minced steaks from supermarket butchers are currently being recalled due to detection of listeria and salmonella.

    Unbranded minced steaks, but sold in the traditional butcher section of E.Leclerc supermarkets in Loire-Atlantique, are currently the subject of two recalls on the government’s Rappel Conso website. These are hamburger steaks sold on demand, suspected of containing listeria and salmonella germs.

    What are the references concerned?

    The reminder due to salmonella concerns beef minced steaks sold in all traditional butcher sections of all E.Leclerc establishments in Loire-Atantique (44).

    • Sold from 10/17/2023 to 10/21/2023;
    • Use-by date: between 17:10/2023 and 21/10/2023;
    • Packaging: in bulk in a butcher’s sales sheet;
    • Health mark FR 22.046.001.CE.

    The recall due to presence of Listeria monocytogenes concerns minced steaks on demand sold in the E.Leclerc de Guérande precisely, sold between 10/12/2023 and 10/18/2023.

    What are the risks involved?

    In both cases, risks of food poisoning are to be feared, according to the Rappel Conso website.

    For salmonellosis

    Foodborne illnesses caused by salmonella result in gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) that appear suddenly, often accompanied by fever and headaches, which generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated products. These symptoms may be more pronounced in young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly.

    People who have consumed these products and who present these symptoms are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption. If there are no symptoms within 7 days after consuming the affected products, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor.

    For Listeriosis

    People who have consumed the “products” mentioned above and who present with fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption. Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms. Listeriosis is a disease that can be serious and has an incubation period of up to eight weeks.

    What to do if you bought these hamburger steaks?

    This official recall invites you to no longer consume this product, do not use it, and return it to the point of sale for a refund.

    The recall procedure will end on Saturday November 4, 2023 for hamburger steaks affected by salmonella, on November 23 for hamburger steaks affected by listeria.
