Wicked took international cinemas by storm at the end of 2024 and quickly became the fantasy spectacle of the year. The film enchanted the press and audience at the same time with opulent sets, such as tailor-made performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, as well as strong musical numbers that not only Broadway fans already knew from the popular play of the same name.

The story of Wicked was originally intended to be told in just one film, just as the Broadway musical tells the story in one piece. However, during the development of the film adaptation, director Jon M. Chu decided to split the films in order to do justice to the story and also to include elements in more detail only touched on in passing in the stage adaptation become.

Jon M.
