There is no shortage of creams to soothe a sunburn. But which one to choose for quick relief? My pharmacist recommendations.
The application of a cream is one of the solutions to quickly relieve a sunburn. In the presence of blisters, sunburn disinfection is necessary beforehand. An effective cream promotes healing, soothes pain, reduces redness of the skin and rehydrates it. Here are 8 soothing creams to apply to your sunburn this summer.
1. Biafine®
It is a drug that comes in the form of an emulsion for skin application. Two generics are also marketed: Lamiderm® and Trolamine Biogaran®. The application on the sunburn must be carried out in a thick layer until the skin refuses, with the possibility of renewing it 2 to 4 times a day.
2. Osmosoft® Burns and Sunburns
It is a gel to apply 2 to 3 times a day on the sunburn. The first use may be associated with tingling. In the event of an allergic reaction, treatment should be discontinued immediately.
3. Laluset® cream
VSThis cream based on hyaluronic acid is to be applied once a day in a thick layer (2 to 3 mm thick).
4. Dexeryl® Specific burns and sunburns
This gel-cream can be used 2 to 4 times a day in adults and children from 24 months.
5. Cicalfate +® Avene
This restorative cream can be used several times a day, from birth. It has several equivalents in other brands.
6. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+®
It is also a restorative cream. The application on a sunburn is possible twice a day and can be used in infants.
7. Dermalibour +® A-Derma
It is a cream that can be used 1 to 2 times a day from birth.
8. Cicabio® Bioderma cream
This restorative treatment is to be applied 1 to 2 times a day in everyone except premature infants.
The creams mentioned above make it possible to treat red, dry and painful skin with sometimes the presence of blisters, without a serious factor. If signs of seriousness appear as blisters pierced during sunburn, discolored dermis and weak pain felt, then a medical consultation is strongly recommended. Indeed, it is probably a deep second degree burn cannot be treated with a simple cream. For optimal relief from sunburn, the cream can be placed in the refrigerator before use to provide a cool effect. The application must be done on dry, clean skin with a light massage to promote skin penetration. If the skin bleeds or becomes infected, this type of cream is to be avoided. Besides, creams should not be applied to the eyelids and around the eyes. Allergic manifestations have already been reported with some of them. In this case, it is advisable to rinse the affected area and immediately interrupt the treatment.
