From the start of the school year, Wine Fairs are set up in most major retail chains, at wine merchants and on online retail sites. After a 2023 edition in decline both in value – 988 million euros (- 2%) – and in volume – 133.5 million bottles purchased (- 5%) -, this year’s event will be essential for the entire sector, especially in a context of falling purchasing power. To guide you, here is the detail, brand by brand, with the different dates of these bacchic festivals that have become essential. Enough to enrich your cellar at a lower cost.
Good news for the wine industry, the Sowine/Dynata 2024 barometer revealed that wine had once again become the favorite alcoholic beverage of the French this year. Six out of 10 of our compatriots (+5%) placed it at the top of their taste list, compared to 58% in favor of beer, which had dethroned the blood of the vine last year. The study also confirms that mass distribution remains the preferred place of purchase for the French, with an increase of 4 points compared to 2023. A dominance also highlighted by the Xerfi Institute, one of whose latest economic surveys establishes that large food stores and hard discount stores largely dominate the wine market in France (82% of sales by volume in 2022). Their price positioning and the breadth of their offering constitute their main assets, to which are added the marketing and communication efforts made during wine fairs. This 2024 edition is no exception to the rule, with particular attention from brands to price, the primary purchasing criterion for 54% of consumers. (source Sowine 2023).
