This year, the finance bill for 2024 will make it possible to reduce your taxes by donating to certain associations, which until now were not part of the tax bonus.
The finance bill for 2024 provides many new features for taxpayers. This year, many French people should benefit from a slight tax reduction, in particular due to the 4.8% increase in the income brackets of the progressive income tax scale. Certain tax credits may also be granted to those who carry out work on their home. Finally, donations made to associations also help reduce the bill. The good news is that the ceiling for donations to associations helping people in difficulty (increased to 1,000 euros per year between 2020 and 2023) is renewed for the period 2024-2026, giving right to the tax reduction “Coluche of 75%. The maximum bonus will therefore be 750 euros per year.
Two other types of donations integrated into the tax bonus. The government wishes to encourage donations to the Heritage Foundation. Thus, if you made a transfer between September 15, 2023 and you plan to make a donation by December 31, 2025, you will also be able to benefit from a tax reduction of 75% instead of 66%, in the limit of 1000 euros per year. Note that this limit is distinct from that of the “Coluche” tax. These donations will then make it possible to finance conservation and restoration work on religious buildings, for municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants (or 20,000 inhabitants overseas).
Other associations, which were not previously part of the tax bonus, will make it possible to obtain a tax reduction of 66% of their amount, up to 20% of the donor’s income. This is particularly the case, since January 1, 2024, of donations made to general interest associations which campaign for equality between women and men. Notice to those who wish to make a donation to feminist associations, or to any other association which fights against violence against women, or which works for economic and professional equality between women and men.
