    Who is actually behind the Oscars?

    The Academy Awards are organized every year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Almost 9,500 AMPAS members vote on the Oscars (via Vanity Fair). They come from all over the world and from different professional sectors of the film industry.

    In contrast to the approach at film festivals, no specially selected jury decides at the Oscars. Several thousand people vote on the nominations and winners of the Academy Awards in an electoral process.
