There are changes to the showcases in Pokémon GO. We will explain to you what these are and what rewards you will get.
What are showcases? Showcases are time-limited competitions in Pokémon GO where you can compare your Pokémon with those of other trainers. It is not the strongest Pokémon that wins, but rather the one with the highest weight, for example. Only certain Pokémon species are unlocked for a showcase. We have already explained to you exactly how showcases work.
Now there will be changes to the showcases. These affect, among other things, the participating Pokémon and the rewards that you can receive.
More choice of Pokémon, rewards for medals
What is changing about the showcases? The first change to the showcases affects the Pokémon that are allowed to participate. Previously, only a few species were unlocked for a showcase, for example only Pikachu.
Now there will also be showcases in which multiple Pokémon species from a specific category can take part. You can take part in showcases in which, for example, all Pokémon of a certain type can compete against each other.
In addition, showcases will in future be displayed in the Nearby menu, where you already have a tab for Pokémon, raids and routes. Trainer friends who are participating in the same showcase as you will also be highlighted in the showcase leaderboard.
What new rewards are there? If you win a showcase, you will receive a medal. And for exactly these medals, there are now new rewards in the form of avatar items and a Pokémon. The rewards are as follows:
The Professor Pikachu, which you encounter when you receive the platinum medal, has not yet been available in Pokémon GO and can currently only be found this way.
What do you think about the changes and new rewards in Showcases? Are you happy about it? Or are showcases a feature in the game that you don’t use at all?
