These are the best Amazon series of the year – with a really good sci-fi story from the creator of Lost and extremely tough superhero action

It was a very eventful year, not least for Amazon Prime. In addition to film highlights like Bottoms, there was an extremely varied selection of great series to watch on the streaming service in 2023. We have put together the 7 best examples. From this group we have the 5 best-rated productions with over 50 reviews selected. Since three examples only differed minimally in their evaluation, the top list consists of 7 places.

The best Amazon series of 2023 – 7th place: Gen V

The Boys spin-off Gen V, which revolves around the next Supe generation, takes 7th place on Moviepilot. At a superhero college run by the evil Vought Corporation, the youngsters test their physical, moral and sexual limits. The spin-off is in no way inferior to the parent series when it comes to bloodshed.

The best Amazon series of 2023 – 6th place: Luden

The German series Luden, which is set in the dazzling demimonde of the Reeperbahn in the 70s and 80s, comes in sixth place. With the help of the prostitute Jutta (Jeanette Hain), the “beautiful” Klaus Barkowsky (Aaron Hilmer) rises from a dishwasher to an unscrupulous pimp-millionaire.

The best Amazon series 2023 – 5th place: German Crime Story: Tied up

5th place in the best Amazon series of 2023 also takes place in the Hamburg milieu. The true crime series German Crime Story: Tied revolves around the true story of the so-called “acid barrel murderer” Raik Doormann (Oliver Masucci), whom investigator Nela Langenbeck (Angelina Häntsch) convicts of kidnapping and killing several women.

The best Amazon series of 2023 – 4th place: Mrs. Davis

Mrs. Davis, the new series from Lost creator Damon Lindelof, comes in at number 4 in the community rankings. The sci-fi adventure revolves around the nun Simone (Betty Gilpin), who fights against the control of the all-powerful AI Mrs. Davis defends himself. Finally, Simone receives the task from her to find the Holy Grail. The best Amazon series of 2023 – 3rd place: The Continental

The John Wick prequel The Continental takes third place. In 1970s New York, young Winston (Colin Woodell) fights for control of the eponymous hitman hotel and makes a name for himself in the city’s underworld through gun violence.

The best Amazon series 2023 – 2nd place: The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

In second place is the drama series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, which tells the harrowing story of Alice (Alyla Browne/Alycia Debnam-Carey) based on a novel by Holly Ringland. After the shocking death of her parents, she grows up on her grandmother’s (Sigourney Weaver) flower farm. Finally, she gets to the bottom of her family’s dark secret.

The best Amazon series of 2023 – 1st place: Daisy Jones and the Six

The best Amazon series of the year with 7.85 points is the captivating rock drama Daisy Jones and The Six. The story follows the footsteps of a fictional band that unexpectedly split up in the 70s after a rapid rise and tremendous success. With the songs created specifically for the series and the great chemistry between the main actors Riley Keough and Sam Claflin, the series thrilled millions of fans worldwide.

Bonus: One of the best Amazon series of the year is still far too unknown

Unfortunately, the number of reviews was not enough for one of the absolute series highlights of the year, whether Amazon, Netflix or Disney+: The extremely creative and hilarious reality sitcom Jury Duty on Amazon’s free streaming service Freevee can, despite a rating of With 7.44 points and only 48 reviews, it still captivated countless viewers from April 2023.

In the series, a young man is appointed as a jury member. He doesn’t know that he is surrounded by actors who excel in their bizarreness when negotiating the fictional case.
