These are the 5 biggest streamers worldwide by subs

On Twitch, viewers have a variety of ways to financially support their favorite streamers. One of these options is to take out a paid subscription. We at MeinMMO show you the 5 streamers who are at the top thanks to their subscribers and who have the most subs worldwide.

How did this list come about? There are several ways to determine the size and relevance of a streamer on Twitch. Who has the most followers, the highest growth, the most subs, or the most average viewers?

We decided on the number of subs. This shows which streamers on Twitch receive the most financial support from their community. Monetary donations are not considered here due to the lack of transparency.

When it comes to followers, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is still the biggest on Twitch. You can see what the former Fortnite star is doing today in the video:

What are subs? Subs is short for subscription and represents a monthly paid subscription that can be used to support streamers. This enables special benefits, such as special emotes (emojis) and ad-free streams. In some cases, this also allows access to certain events, content or chats.

The subscriptions can have different price levels. Part of the fee goes to Twitch, part to the streamer, which allows them to generate a revenue stream. Some streamers can make a living from the earnings on Twitch.

We took the following criteria into account when compiling this list:

  • Period of the last 30 days (as of May 12, 2023)
  • Commercial and event channels are not considered
  • The ranking is determined by the current active subs
  • 5th place: HasanAbi

  • streamers: Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker
  • Active subs: 61,906
  • Sub record: 66,819
  • Active since: October 2019
  • Language: English
  • Channel: twitch.tv/hasanabi
  • Who is HasanAbi? The American streamer HasanAbi studied politics and communication sciences and is active as a political commentator on Twitch. Previously, he worked as a columnist for an online newspaper.

He has been streaming daily for years, with a few exceptions, and is mostly in the “Just Chatting” category, where he reacts live to funny videos and memes. In between, he streams various video games, including League of Legends and GTA V.

During the US elections, his viewership increased – his channel is considered an alternative news channel for the Twitch generation. Despite his left-wing views, HasanAbi always treats himself to large purchases that are financially far in excess of what “normal earners” can afford and sometimes receives severe criticism for this.

How did HasanAbi get the subs? HasanAbi is certainly the most well-known political commentator on Twitch. In his streams he talks about current political issues, but also about interesting events related to the streaming community. The educational and informational aspect of his channel will probably encourage you to want to support him financially.

It’s worth mentioning that the number of paid subscriptions on his Twitch channel has been fairly constant for about a year and a half and there aren’t any big drops or huge increases like other streamers.

At the end of April, he reported in a live stream that he had accidentally adopted some kind of luxury dog.

    4th place: KaiCenat

  • streamers: Kai Cenat
  • Active subs: 70,679
  • Sub record: 306,621
  • Active since: February 2021
  • Language: English
  • Channel: twitch.tv/kaicenat
  • Who is KaiCenat? Kai is an American live streamer and YouTuber known for his pranks and challenges on YouTube, where his career began in 2018. On Twitch he streams in the “Just Chatting” category, where he chats with his community, watches videos, plays pranks or dances – sometimes in the shower. In between he streams Fortnite, GTA and Minecraft.

In terms of the varied topics, KaiCenat is apparently a born entertainer. The creator is not only represented on various platforms with his content, but also with his music on Spotify.

Kai Cenat has only been streaming since the beginning of 2021, but has already risen to become one of the biggest streamers on Twitch – despite several short-term bans. Since then he has broken several records.

How did KaiCenat get the subs? During a month-long subathon in February this year, he broke the 306,000 subs and thus the Twitch record. At that point, he had only been streaming for two years. Kai is particularly known for his pranks and versatile live formats, which certainly contributed to the success.

KaiCenat talks about the Subathon, his childhood and his career in his documentary “30 Days: The Kai Cenat Documentary” on YouTube.

What is a Subathon? In sub-marathons, or subathons for short, streamers set a specific sub-goal and set a time period in which they want to achieve the goal. Viewers can extend the streaming time through subs – the more people subscribe, the longer the stream runs.

    3rd place: xQc

  • streamers: Felix “xQc” Lengye
  • Active subs: 72.147
  • Sub record: 102,288
  • Active since: December 2016
  • Language: English
  • Channel: twitch.tv/xqc
  • Who is xQc? Félix “xQc” Lengye is a Canadian streamer and former Overwatch League esports player. Shortly before graduating, xQc dropped out of business studies after three and a half years and started live streaming video games on Twitch.

xQc is active in different categories on Twitch, comments on pictures and videos or streams games like GTA V, Minecraft and Overwatch. In his Twitch info he writes: “I am the best at absolutely everything”, below it is also in capital letters: “I win in every game.”

Most recently, he was surprised at his way of speaking, saying he didn’t understand how his content could be viewed and listened to. In the course of his career, he was notable for the bans and suspensions of his Overwatch team, including for abusing the game’s reporting system and making racist and homophobic statements.

How did xQc get the subs? An interesting question, especially in his case because of the conflicting actions. On the one hand, his successes in e-sports were certainly beneficial, on the other hand, his arrogant demeanor and his slurred way of speaking could have contributed to it. There are even Reddit threads where community members “translate” clips.

Here you can see a clip in which xQc no longer understands itself:

I don’t know what he’s saying. I don’t understand how anyone can sit here and actually watch and listen to this shit.

    2nd place: Jynxzi

  • streamers: Nick “Jynxzi” Stewart
  • Active subs: 82,686
  • Sub record: 88,288
  • Active since: 2019
  • Language: English
  • Channel: twitch.tv/jynxzi
  • Who is Jynxzi? The early 20-year-old is known for his streams of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, during which he sits on a wooden chair. From time to time, Jynxzi organizes tournaments in Rainbow Six Siege with and for his community. He has over 6,000 hours of play in the game (via Sportskeeda).

He attracts attention with his impulsiveness, yells, slams his controller on the table. In a Reddit thread, he is compared to the American LoL streamer “loltyler1”, who is known for his rants and toxic behavior.

How did Jynxzi get the subs? He never seemed to get involved in major drama, so his success came as a surprise to many. He has built up an enormous reach on social media in recent years – 1.6 million people follow him on TikTok alone.

Certainly his tournaments and the integration of his community also contribute to this, as well as the weapon talisman in Rainbow Six Siege, which is currently available for a subscription to his channel. It is also interesting to note that around 32% of his active subscriptions are gifted subs, i.e. subscriptions that viewers have given away to others.

In April, he hit 88,000 subs and called his mother on the live stream to let her know:

Is anyone’s mother like that too? Yes, she is already asleep. Reminds me to call her tomorrow. Chat … we are number 1 on Twitch in the world. Holy shit. Holy shit. This is fucking crazy. Oh my God.

    1st place: Gaules

  • streamers: Alexandre “Gaules” Borba Chiqueta
  • Active subs: 87,626
  • Sub record: 102,857
  • Active since: 2018
  • Language: Portuguese
  • Channel: twitch.tv/gaules
  • Who is Gaules? The 39-year-old is a Brazilian Counter-Strike streamer, YouTuber and former esports athlete. In an interview, he revealed that when he was a kid, he went to the internet cafe every day to play Counter-Strike and get better at it because he had one goal: he wanted to be a member of a big esports team (via ESPN).

Gaules is known for co-founding g3generationX, a now-defunct Counter-Strike team. He is currently a full-time streamer and provides live commentary on CS:GO tournaments.

How did Gaules get the subs? After wanting to fundamentally change his life and become independent of companies, he started streaming on Twitch in 2018. He didn’t want to just “be someone in the background” anymore. (via ESPN) He received support from former team members. In his streams he asked for help so that he could pay for medicine and therapy from the proceeds.

I’ve had some successes, made a lot of mistakes, won a lot and lost a lot too!

    Quoting from his Twitch info

He describes his community as a family, and streaming has helped him a lot personally. The connection to his viewers seems to have been decisive for his development, which is also visible in the subs given away: 40% of his subscriptions, i.e. approx. 35,000, were given away by viewers to the community.

This streamer has also received huge support from his community after they persuaded him to do a crazy project.
