Therese Johaug’s cocky answer after Frida Karlsson’s question

After more than two years of absence, Therese Johaug is making a grand comeback this winter.
Many have asked how good the Norwegian will be, including Frida Karlsson. Now she gives proper answers to speech.
– The tests I have on cross-country and roller skiing right now are among the best since 2021 and 2022, she tells VG.

After a fantastic career with, among other things, four Olympic golds and 13 World Cup golds, he gave up Therese Johaug36, for herself in the spring of 2022. Since then, she has, among other things, become a mother to a little one Christine1, and acted as a skiing expert on Norwegian television. She has also occupied herself by arranging training trips in warmer countries, where she also acted as a personal trainer. But now the desire to compete has become too great…

“Johaug has been the benchmark”

Her goal is to win medals at the home WC in Trondheim in February/March 2025. Above all, the focus is on the five mile, but she hopes to start at several distances. Until then, she will compete in a couple of World Cup competitions, including the premiere in Finnish Ruka on November 29.

The question is how her form is right now. Many wonder how good she will actually be now that she hasn’t competed in two seasons. Among other things stood Frida Karlsson25, asked himself that question just over a week ago.

– She is so welcome. But where does she stand? Johaug has been the benchmark for so many years – he is someone we have been chasing the whole time, she told TT.

Now the Norwegian comes with a worrying answer for all Swedes. She is back in good old shape and is training almost more than ever. This was not at all what Frida Karlsson or anyone else wanted to hear.

That’s how much Johaug trains

In an interview with Norwegian VG, Johaug now talks about how many training hours she spent in August. If you calculate the number of hours on the 31 days of the month, it becomes more than three training hours per day. Since she is said to have had a day of rest every now and then, that adds up to more than four hours a day.

– I am proud. 100 training hours in August. It’s the first time since December 2021. Then I was up for 90 hours, says Therese Johaug.

Before she decided to make a comeback, the numbers weren’t that high at all. Between January and April, she trained an estimated 60 hours a month, while she increased the volume in May and June to just over 80 training hours. It certainly seems to have given her the results she desires.

– The tests I have on cross-country and roller skiing right now are among the best since 2021 and 2022. I’m not quite up and nodding at my best. But I’m not far away, she says.

Jeez, Therese Johaug will absolutely be counted on this winter. Hope the Swedish girls can give her a match, especially during the WC. It would be nice to be able to snap her on the nose during the championship that is held on her home turf.
