Therese Johaug’s clear message – now backfires after Frida Karlsson’s outburst about her: “Gosh…”

Frida Karlsson longs to see Therese Johaug back in the skiing world.
But the Norwegian is now fighting back.
– Jeez, have I decided?, she says.

During her last years as an active skier, Therese Johaug was a total slaughter. She won pretty much every single distance race she competed in, and managed to become both Olympic and World Cup queen before ending her career. Since then, two years have passed.

Frida’s play

Johaug has had time to become a mother and get married, but at the same time she has kept training going, and considering where the WC will be held next winter (Trondheim, Norway), it is not surprising that speculation about a possible comeback is recurring. Recently, Johaug himself also competed in a 17-kilometer race in Switzerland – and then it was a dominant victory, with a margin of three minutes to second place.

Johaug has said herself that she is open to a possible comeback, and earlier this week Frida Karlsson also spoke out about the whole thing.

– It’s really fun. They want her back. I think she is running the WC, we are waiting for her, said Karlsson.

Johaug’s clear answer

Frida Karlsson’s honest words about Therese Johaug were widely spread in the skiing world, and it has almost become like a truth that Johaug will come back. But to Norwegian NRK, Johaug is now fighting back against all rumours.

– I was lying in bed and said: “Oh, have I decided on the WC in Trondheim? Jeez, have I decided? Who decided that, because it’s not me anyway.”

– It is still very open whether it will happen or not. For that at least I can confirm; I haven’t decided, she says to NRK.

Johaug believes that a decision about the future will be made within the next few months, and that she needs to do some deliberation with the family. She also believes that the WC, which starts at the end of February next year, would mean a lot of pressure.

– I know that no one would be satisfied with me finishing fourth in the five mile race, but everyone wants me to win gold. That’s my goal with. But if I’m going to compete in Trondheim, I have to qualify there with and know which races I’m going to run in order to make it, because it’s not relevant to run a whole world cup season, she says.
