Stina Nilsson got a podium place directly in her long-distance debut.
Now several Norwegians, including Therese Johaug, want to see Stina in the cross-country WC next year.
– It’s just a matter of showing up, she says to Expressen.
Success tends to become a buzzword in sports contexts. But after Stina Nilsson’s31, real Ski Classics debut, it’s hard to find another word. The Swede came third in the 36 km Bad Gastein Criterium. She finished 47 seconds after the winner Emilie Fleten.
The question of Stina Nilsson in the WC
It was therefore a podium place directly for Stina Nilsson, who was brilliantly happy afterwards.

After the very nice premiere weekend, a question about Stina was raised in SVT’s Vinterstudion. The host André Pops briefly wondered if the star, who has just switched to long-distance running from biathlon, should be eligible to get a place in the cross-country World Championships in Trondheim after the turn of the year.
– She has decided on a long run, and then that probably applies 100 percent. But who knows? It’s a tickling thought, says the biathlon expert Mona Brorsson in SVT.
Therese Johaug’s words about Stina Nilsson
Stina Nilsson’s success has also reached neighboring Norway. Several of the Norwegian riders want to see her on the starting line in Trondheim. One of them is Therese Johaug36, who is attracted by the idea of meeting Nilsson again.
– You just have to show up. It would probably have gone well for Stina there, she tells Expressen and thus urges her former rival to fight for a starting place.
Even if the Swedish national team manager Anders Byström previously been open to letting Stina Nilsson join the team – he doesn’t close any doors – she doesn’t seem to be particularly keen herself.
– I don’t intend to do more traditional cross-country skiing. It is a closed chapter for me, she has told Langrenn.com.
