Therese Johaug has ended her entire skiing career.
Therefore, the Norwegian can now be brutally honest in his opinions.
Now the 34-year-old reveals what she hates most about Swedish skiers.

The successful skiing career is officially over and Therese Johaug no longer need to hit the ski slopes to push your body to the breaking point and achieve new medals. But the Norwegian is not on the lazy side for that, but is very up-to-date with a newly released book.

Johaug’s displeasure

The Norwegian ski queen has stirred up a lot of emotions and made several revelations in her new autobiography “The Whole Story”, the book that summarizes her entire career. Johaug also writes about what she dislikes most about Swedish skiers, and above all points out two Swedes that she has bothered with during her career.

Johaug enters the debate about cross-country skiers who ride on their opponents’ skis and steer from behind, and she is very clear about her displeasure.
“Some of the Swedes are on the worst thing list,” writes the 34-year-old in the book, according to Norwegian media.

Pointing out Swedish women

It was when Sweden won WC gold at the relay in Seefeld 2019 that Johaug writes that Frida Karlsson went on Ingvild Flugstad Östbergs skis several times. In the race after, Norway took revenge in the 30 km free when Johaug won WC gold and Flugstad Östberg WC silver but then it was Ebba Andersson which turned on both poles and skis.
“Several times I turned around and screamed ‘shit in walking on my stick’,” Johaug writes in the book.

The Norwegian giant believes that this was typical for the Swedish skaters and especially Frida and Ebba who end up on Johaug’s unflattering list.
“That type of behavior has been a hot topic in recent seasons and some of the Swedes are on the worst list. I definitely think they don’t do it on purpose. I have great respect for Ebba and Frida both as people and as skiers. It’s great to lie on your back during ski races, but then you have to be careful and not ruin it for the one in front,” she writes in the book.

“Pity them”

The really big revenge for the Norwegian national skiing team then came two years later during the WC 2021 in Oberstdorf when Norway and Sweden squared off again in a relay context.
“The day before the relay, we learned that the Swedes intended to bring ‘skumpa’ to the stadium. Champagne, that is. They also had gold jackets ready. They seemed very confident that they would defend their gold from Seefeld, and yes, they were favorites on paper, but that was just fine for us,” writes Johaug.

We Swedes remember this relay with horror as everything went wrong and an obvious vale fiasco led to a miserable sixth place while Norway won WC gold.
“In the game of chance, much is evened out over time. In Oberstdorf, it quickly became apparent that the roles were reversed. It’s not fun to have hopeless skis and I also find no joy in seeing the competitors have it. It was simply a pity for the Swedes. We still joke about what happened to the ‘scumpan’ that the Swedes brought to the stadium. The revenge was nice after the defeat two years before,” writes Therese Johaug in her autobiography.
