There are few skiers who can compare with Therese Johaugs incredible track record. The Norwegian was completely dominant for many years and the clear skiing queen before she ended her career in 2022.
Johaug’s greatness
Johaug won four Olympic golds, a total of fourteen World Cup golds and the overall World Cup twice during his successful skiing career. After she put the boots on the shelf, Therese has had time to get married and become a mother for the first time in her life.

But ever since the farewell two seasons ago, everyone has still wondered if she can make a comeback to the ski slopes again. Johaug has continued to train hard and himself opened up about a possible comeback to the Ski World Championships on home ground in Trondheim in 2025.

Now Johaug breaks the silence after all the speculation and rumors to give new information about a possible comeback.
– I get daily questions about it. Now my husband also has (Nils Jakob Hoff), as it is called, started to ask too, she tells NRK.
– I’m still unsure. I’ve been training well lately, so at least I’ve gotten in shape.
This week there has also been speculation about a possible comeback for another old Norwegian great skater in Peter Northug. But there are still higher hopes for Johaug’s situation.
– If Johaug wants to go to the WC, she qualifies. It’s easy as pie. But it is not for Northug. And that is the big difference, says ski expert Lersveen to the Norwegian newspaper.
– She is in good training. I think it’s about whether she thinks it’s worth it. Her values are so simple that if she chooses to bet, she goes. She doesn’t care about doing it half-heartedly and coming home with silver or bronze from the WC. Then it’s a wasted year, that’s her thing. There are no obstacles to being able to start, she will definitely qualify. She will definitely be able to walk the distances she wants. But it is up to Johaug himself.
