Therese Alshammar has been a celebrated TV expert during the Olympics.
Now the swimming legend vents his great criticism during the championship in Paris.
– I vomit when I hear that, the 46-year-old tells Expressen.
It was during the Summer Olympics in Rio 2016 that Therese Alshammar bid farewell to the Olympic competitions. She is one of our greatest swimmers of all time with, in addition to two Olympic silvers, the legend has collected over 70 championship medals during her amazing career.

She has been praised by many Swedes for her efforts in the television box and received a lot of attention as a result of the fact that Swedish swimming has gone so well. There the blue-yellow swimming queen Sarah Sjostrom has won double Olympic gold this past week.
– Paris attracted a lot and I still enjoy swimming very much. That is the main reason why I accepted, says Alshammar to Expressen.
– I think I can talk about swimming so that the common man understands a little more, what the challenge is in certain races and what technical details are important.
Therese annoyed
But when it comes to the Olympics and competitions at the very highest world-class level, there is something that really disgusts Alshammar. Now she vents her great criticism during the Olympics in Paris.
– I think it was Usain Bolt who said it in some context, that he “wanted to win more than anyone in that final and that’s why he won”. And we will hear similar reasoning now during the Olympics. But I vomit when I hear that. I get angry and sad. Because who in the world do you think doesn’t want to win? There are people who want it even more than you, even more, says the TV expert in the interview.
– It is prejudicial and shitty to say that no one else wants to win as much.

Therese Alshammar thinks more that it is physical conditions that decide, especially in swimming where tall people with big feet are favored in the pool.
– There are actually many things that are quite predetermined, but that play a role. Even if you don’t think about it, she tells the evening newspaper, and above all thinks about herself.
– Sometimes I can think that I might not want that more than anyone else. But I got these feet I have, and the gift. Everyone wants to win as much of course. Then it is the one who has put in the time but also had luck, timing and met a good coach at the right time in combination with the right genetics who will reach the farthest. That is my firm opinion.
