There’s one thing that bothers Blue Bloods fans most about the series finale

After 14 years, the last episode of Blue Bloods – Crime Scene New York flickered across US television screens. In it, fans had to say goodbye to the Reagan family, who ensured law and order in the metropolis for 14 seasons and were embodied by stars such as Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan.

While one death particularly shocked the Blue Bloods cosmos, fans reacted dividedly to the big series finale – or rather, the small Series finale.

“Too rushed”: Blue Bloods fans criticize the series finale

Because after all these years, the fans had expected a spectacular finale, which also included a farewell to the Reagan family extended term remembered. However, the episode did not differ from previous Blue Bloods episodes in this respect – which disappointed many fans of the series.

“How do you do a series finale for Blue Bloods and then just for an hour?“says a fan on X (formerly Twitter). Another agrees: “That’s exactly what I said! 14 years and they haven’t even given them a two-hour finale yet!”

Another fan writes: “I’m sure I’m not alone when I say they should have given Blue Bloods a two-hour finale. That hour is went around too fast.” “I hate to say it, but I was disappointed with the last episode. I was expecting something huge and was dropped,” explains another Blue Bloods supporter on X.

On Reddit, other Blue Bloods fans discussed the series finale and many stated that the short running time of the finale was also reflected in the quality of the story. “I wish it had been a two-part finale, much more could have been covered and completed“it says. “Much too rushed”writes another person. “It didn’t feel like a series finale, it felt like a season finale.” and “You have a whole final season of character development packed into the last half hour” write other fans.

Other Blue Bloods fans are sad about the end of the series – but happy with the finale

However, other fans are more forgiving about the end of Blue Bloods. “The final episode of Blue Bloods was very good. Tears. Happiness. Action. I will miss you”says one person on X. “The perfect ending for a perfect series”writes another fan. “I’m completely crying… thank you, Blue Bloods, for a great series and a powerful series ending”another person writes on X and concludes: “We need a spin-off!”

It is not yet clear whether the desired spin-off will actually come. The stars around Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg had actively tried to continue the series in the past and did not rule out a spin-off. CBS has also already made statements that went in a hopeful direction, although it stated that nothing concrete was currently being planned. So fans can continue to keep their fingers crossed.
