Theres nothing quite like it enthuses Adam Driver about Megalopolis

For the first time, Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver (Star Wars) has worked with legendary director Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now) for the new science fiction film Megalopolis. Coppola financed the $120 million budget out of his own pocket to realize his dream project.

From the environment of the complex shoot, there were reports of a production that got out of control and lost employees in rows. However, all previous statements by Driver sound completely enthusiastic. In a new interview, he spoke about Coppola’s first feature film in 12 years, which he has now finished shooting.

Adam Driver raves about Coppola’s megalopolis

At Paste Magazine, Driver was quizzed about his new dinosaur action movie 65 and ended up talking about Megalopolis himself. About this he said the following:

I finished shooting my part of Megalopolis at 4am this morning […] Megalopolis is one of the most exciting things I’ve ever been a part of, especially as far as Francis Ford Coppola goes. It was one of the best filming experiences I’ve had so far. And the things he created, there is nothing like it.

It’s so unique and imaginative, and hopefully accessible to all, that it’s not just offbeat for a certain audience, it’s for everyone. […] He’s so brave. He has [Megalopolis] all alone [finanziert]so that he can keep control of it. He constantly tried to make it as original as possible. What is Francis Ford Coppola’s next film about?

Not much is known about the plot of Megalopolis, except that the film revolves around an architect who New York City after a disaster wants to rebuild – as a utopian dream city.

The cast and first set photos of Megalopolis

In December, the first set photos were made public, showing the main actor Adam Driver and colleague Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) at work and in conversation with the director. Digital Spy published the images.

The cast also includes Game of Thrones and Fast and Furious star Nathalie Emmanuel, Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Matrix mentor Laurence Fishburne and Breaking Bad villain Giancarlo Esposito. Megalopolis does not have a start date yet.
