Joon-Ho Bong’s fantasy horror combines elements of the monster movie with bizarre humor and interpersonal drama. The unique mixture received rave reviews when it was released in theaters (via Metacritic ), which Tarantino’s verdict is in no way inferior to.

In a list of his favorite films between 1992 and 2009, he describes The Host as “absolutely wonderful” and explains that the film has him “blown away“. Joon-Ho Bong be “like Steven Spielberg at his best” he later praised the director (via The Hollywood Reporter).
