When can you whip?
IN The Traffic Regulation It is generally how road users should be around animals in traffic. News24 Have talked to Niclas NilssonInvestigator at the Swedish Transport Agency. According to Nilsson, drivers carry a great responsibility in his own assessment when meeting animals.
– It is a great responsibility for us road users. There are no rules on exactly how we should do at every specific occasion, but there are guidelines on how to behave at cattle on the road, including the choice of speed. Thus, there are no rules but rather respect, says Nilsson.
Even when it comes to the use of the tutor, the driver has the highest responsibility. According to the rule, the tutor should be used to attract other road users’ attention, to avert or prevent danger.

The use of the tutor, on the other hand, can lead to danger if it is not used carefully. News24 Have talked to Anna ReillyAssociation counselor at the Swedish Equestrian Association, which explains that tutor in connection with animal transport can lead to accidents.
– It is absolutely inappropriate to honk on an animal transport, says Reilly and continues:
– Tutor becomes a very loud sound that can scare the animals. We know what a whistle means and we can see what is happening in traffic. We also have a completely different consistency splash than, for example, a horse. For a horse, the tutor gets scary and a horse that gets scared wants to escape.

When driving both near an animal transport or meeting of an animal on the road, Reilly believes that we should drive as if we had encountered a wild animal.
– You should behave as if it were a moose you met. You can’t just think about yourself and that you feel safe because the animal is in a transport. Should it be scared and start to tire, it can have major consequences and accidents even for the other cars, Reilly says and continues:
– If the horse is scared in transport, it can have major consequences. Partly that it will not want to go transport again, but it can also be so afraid that it is trying to escape. If it comes over the boom in the transport, transport can end up in imbalance and it can create an accident that is not only dangerous for the animal but also road users around. Please show consideration, we all want to come home fully skinned.
