In January 2025, electricity prices rose in several areas as per The Energy Market Agency. At the same time, a lot has been discussed how we should think to keep down electricity prices, including washing at night instead of the day.

New power fee – make it cheaper with electricity consumption at night
At the turn of the year, several electricity grid companies introduced new power fees on behalf of The Energy Market Inspectorate. The idea is to spread out electricity consumption throughout the day as the electricity grid is not as heavily loaded. The new power fee means that it simply becomes cheaper with electricity use at night, something that both the emergency services and the Swedish Electricity Safety Agency advise us from doing.

Risks of washing at night
According to The Swedish Electricity Safety Agency Should you not wash during the night because of the fire risk. It is important to do a risk analysis of its electricity use and supervise their electricity products. Instead, the Swedish Electricity Safety Agency proposes to save electricity in other ways by, for example, lowering the temperature in the home any degree or hanging the laundry instead of drying.
Even the rescue service advises in an interview with Sweden’s radio From using electricity products when sleeping.
– Especially if you are at home and sleep, and do not notice that it is starting to burn. It’s directly dangerous, says Christian DahlFire engineer at Södertörn Fire Defense Association, to Sweden’s Radio.
