More details are now emerging about the indictment filed by the Swedish Work Environment Agency against the police after the death of former police chief Mats Löfving, SR Ekot reports.
The main reasons for reporting suspected work environment violations are two.
For one thing, the police management did not assess possible work environment risks at any time – from the time the police management scandal broke in December until the press conference in February where Löfving received harsh criticism. In part, Mats Löfving did not receive emergency crisis support measures in connection with the press conference that preceded his death.
The police management has claimed that Löfving received support, but according to the Work Environment Agency, “no visible crisis support measures” were taken other than that employees from the communications department were with Löfving during the press meeting, and that he was then driven home by his bodyguards.
The deficiencies are described as “particularly noteworthy” in the report, which the Police Gazette also reported on. The case has been handed over to the prosecutor at the department for special investigations for consideration.
