of the Netherlands Joost Klein was washed out of the competition just hours before the final was due to air, sparking an uproar on social media filled with tags such as “Justice for Joost”. According to the EBU, the reason why Klein was cleared was an ongoing investigation regarding the artist and a female employee in the production.
– While the investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate for him to remain in the competition, a spokesperson from the EBU told Aftonbladet at the time.

The delegation of the Netherlands does not share the EBU’s view. A source for Aftonbladet states that the delegation thinks that Klein’s disqualification was “disproportionate”.
In addition to the dissatisfaction with the dishwashing, there have been extensive demonstrations against Israel’s participation in Eurovision, both during the final and during Friday’s rehearsal Eden Golan performed.

Outcry against the Swedish Eurovision manager Martin Österdahl
After it was decided that Klein would not take part, the Dutch jury refused to announce the country’s score, causing the Swedish Eurovision manager Martin Osterdahl had to stand on stage and call out the score – something that was not well received by the audience.

According to Aftonbladet’s Tobbe Oak the boos were so loud that it was not possible to hear what Österdahl said on stage.
– There have been boos throughout the final both before, during and after Eden Golan’s performances. But those feelings were combined with the fans’ feelings because Joost was disqualified and when Österdahl appeared in the picture, he had to pay for all those feelings in the arena. Buropen against Österdahl was even stronger than against Eden Golan, says Oak.
