A new Google update – a so-called “Google Core Update”, started on March 5. The update aimed to reduce the amount of low-quality and non-unique content appearing in search results.
The update took 45 days to complete, and according to Google themselves the tech company managed to reduce the amount of low-quality content by 45 percent.

Temu drops after the update
E-commerce giant Temu is one of the big losers in the update, as is the site Ehandel.se have reported on. Namely, the company has decreased in visibility in Google’s search results.
The loss is probably due to the fact that players like Temu often have low quality on their websites, write Pontus VippeliusSEO manager at AdRelevance, in a new posts.

Temu’s rapid growth
Temu took the internet and the world by storm when the company launched in September 2022, largely due to its extremely low prices.
The hype surrounding the company was also visible on Google, where Temu’s site gained very high visibility in a short time. That seems to have changed now.

Controversies surrounding Temu
Temu has previously been involved in several controversies. For example, the company has been accused of selling low-quality products and misusing users’ data.
In March 2024 reported News24 about a campaign where Temu gave out 500 kroner to users, provided they agreed to some dubious terms to say the least. Temu then replied that the terms were unintended and have been changed.
There is currently no indication that these controversies are the basis for Temu’s reduced visibility on Google.
