Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Sweden’s foremost football player ever.
But when it comes to the Nordic countries, he does not reach first place.
In my eyes, Peter Schmeichel is. 1 and let me explain why.

The Nordic region may not have educated the world’s best football player of all time. But up in our cold and gray landscape, despite the conditions, we have produced fantastic football players over the years when you sit down and think about it.
The best in the north
In Sweden, of course Zlatan Ibrahimovic The greatest of all time, I still dare to determine even though there are those who claim differently. But 12 gold balls and so many league titles in Europe’s biggest clubs do not lie.
At Finland we find Jari Litmanen As a large exclamation mark and Norway can boast Erling Haaland Like its large crown jewel. He is very likely to be counted as the best player in the Nordic region of all time when he ends his football career.

But right now we find the Nordic region’s foremost football players of all time in Denmark, in my opinion. Michael Laudrupmaybe many people think, and he is obviously high on the list of his fantastic career.
Schmeichel’s greatness
I still think Peter Schmeichel Is snap sharper. The Danish goalkeeper icon has an outstanding track record with European Championship gold, Champions League title, five Premier League titles and many, many more trophies.
Many people probably forget Schmeichel’s greatness between the posts and how he really revolutionized the goalkeeper position. From the fact that goalkeepers have only been a static last outpost for a long time, the Danish came in with completely new ideas about leaving the penalty area, he took both penalties and more than often went up on offensive corners.

Then “The Great Dane” was a devil on saving balls as well. He led a calculated Denmark to the European Championship gold in 1992 almost entirely on his own and won the Champions League in 1999 with the reversal of time in his very last match for Manchester United.

Larger than Zlatan
Only the CL and PL titles make Peter Schmeichel more successful than Zlatan Ibrahimovic and then “Ibra” has not been near a gold with his national team. Michael Laudrup also has no championship gold at international level when he cheated with Denmark’s national team and therefore missed the entire European Championship in 1992.
I understand so clearly that it is not possible to compare a goalkeeper with a striker. But if you want to look at the track record, it is still Schmeichel I keep the highest in the Nordic countries in terms of what he has done in both club and national team.
