Has Margitta given you any advice during the work?
– Absolutely, she has given us some great little clues. Not only to me but also to Amir and to the script writer.
– She has given us little keys, such as that her nickname was “Smulan”, that she was Miss Gävle, and this playfulness in the relationship. That there was always so much love between them, that they could always laugh even when it was the saddest. It was really keys that I took with me from her. But also to just meet her, and understand this particular integrity she really has. Trying to understand what it’s like to be alone on the other side of the world. It’s a big challenge for anyone.

It was most difficult with the role of Margitta in the Börje series
What was the most demanding part of the role?
– I didn’t have to learn to play hockey. I am very grateful for that!, says Hedda Stiernstedt with a laugh.
She further explains that the most difficult thing in the role of Margitta Wendin was that there was not much material for her to start from.
– Margitta is not a public or famous person, so there is not much documentation on her. And it has been boring for me because there has been less to relate to. But the positive thing about it is of course also that I get to make greater creative choices, I have had greater artistic freedom, says Hedda Stiernstedt and continues:
– For example, I chose to keep her dialect, even though she didn’t really have one later. It disappeared and she had no Gävlemål.
