Voter turnout for the 2019 European Parliament elections was 55 percent – but this time, significantly more, 70 percent, of Swedes said they intended to vote, and experts are predicting a record turnout.
In such cases, it is good news for the two largest parties – the Sweden Democrats and the Social Democrats, who benefit from more people going to the polls.

But for several smaller parties, a higher turnout need not be favorable. When the SOM Institute asked non-voters which parties they would have chosen if they had gone and voted in 2019, support for two parties decreased.
