Therefore, France destroys 80 million liters of wine

The price of French wine has plummeted. The Bordeaux wine region is particularly hard hit, with one in three wine producers experiencing significant financial difficulties, according to the local farmers’ association. This is due, among other things, to changes in drinking habits, increases in living costs and consequences of the Corona pandemic.

An EU fund has contributed 160 million euros to the wine spoilage. The French government has allocated an additional 40 million to the project.

The wine will then be converted into pure alcohol which can then be used in, for example, cleaning agents and perfumes.

What does China have to do with wine prices? And what kind of drinking habits have changed? Hear Ulrika Bergsten explain in the clip.
