In just a few years, the number of forest fires caused by machines has decreased significantly. After the major forest fires in 2014 and 2018, the forest industry changed its way of working, which has now yielded results.
– Now everyone in the industry works the same, says Tomas Johannesson, project manager at Skogforsk.
Everything from extra training efforts to improved routines of risk assessments on site in the forest has meant that the number of incidents caused by forest machines has decreased from 50 in 2018 to 19 last year, according to a new report from the forestry research foundation Skogforsk.
– We have intercourse every morning, says forest machine operator Mikael Månsson.
