In January 2025 it became known that WWE wrestler Seth Rollins from Captain America 4 was removed. He was originally part of the cast as a member of the Serpent Society and was replaced by Giancarlo Esposito’s character.

Captain America 4 director Julius Onah explained the realignment of the villain gang in conversation with comicbook.com as follows:
If you take figures like the Serpent Society out of the comic that dress up as snakes and have snake -like forces, you have to keep thinking and trying to find the version that works best in a film like this.

I love Seth, Seth is incredible. But when we developed further and knew that there was an additional shooting time […]we tried to find out: ‘Hey, who is Someone who can bring a very specific kind of weightthat fits this tone? ‘ And when Giancarlo was available, the case was clear.
