There will be hope for cancer patients, Aziz Sancar’s discovery made a sound! ‘Success rate right now…’

There will be hope for cancer patients Aziz Sancars discovery

A news that will give hope to cancer patients came from the USA. Nobel laureate Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar announced that he has developed a treatment that can be used in the treatment of cancer, especially brain cancer. Stating that the success rate in human treatment is currently 3 percent, Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar stated that the treatment will be tried first on mice and then on volunteer patients.

“WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETHING ABORMAL HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY”

Nobel laureate Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar spoke about his invention in an urgently published article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), one of the most respected science journals in the USA.

Stating that the EdU molecule has been one of the most used chemicals in molecular biology since 2008, Sancar said, “I worked for 10 years to solve the DNA repair mechanism that won me the Nobel Prize, to find something simple. “We started this study in January, and in February we noticed something abnormal, that it killed the cell.” he said.

“WE SEE HOW IT KILLS THE CELLS”

Noting that he went to Turkey for a program in the same month and that they continued the experiments with his team of 10 on his return, Sancar said, “Because we had just made a couple of experiments, we weren’t quite sure, we continued this work after we returned. We have done all the checks and have proven that it is certain. And we’ve seen how it kills cells.” said.

Stating that EdU, which is put into cell culture, kills both normal cells and cancer cells, Sancar stated that scientists found a few years ago, but they did not continue to work on this issue because they could not find the reason for this.

“FINALLY A BLIND CYCLE AND THE CELL DIES”

Sancar continued his speech about EdU’s features as follows:

“The other feature of this chemical, EdU, is that there is something called ‘blood brain barrier’. We can translate it into Turkish as ‘blood brain barrier’. Most of the drugs cannot pass from the blood to the brain tissue. For example, the drug called cisplatin, which is used in the treatment of 80 percent of cancer patients, cannot pass through this barrier, so brain cancers cannot be treated with it. This EdU gets in easily (into the brain) with no problem. So we put these two things together, it kills the cancer cell and enters the brain easily. Because normal brain cells do not synthesize DNA, they do not put this chemical into their DNA, but because cancer cells are constantly multiplying, they synthesize DNA and take EdU into their DNA. Then the excision repair (in the cell) takes it out, puts it back in, takes it out again, eventually it becomes a blind loop and the cell dies.”

“WITH NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER…”

Informing that EdU, whose full abbreviation is “5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine”, is a synthetic form of thymine found in normal DNA, Sancar stated that there is very little difference between them and other molecules and that DNA cannot see this difference and includes EdU. .

Sancar also noted the following about the process after the point reached regarding the invention:

“When it comes to such a situation, the way to be followed is you try it on mice first, if you get positive results in mice, you switch to volunteers. We made a deal with a professor of brain cancer who is experimenting with mice, and we will start mouse experiments with him in November or December. If we can kill the brain tumor in mice, then we’ll move on to humans.”

“THE SUCCESS RATE AT THIS STAGE 3 PERCENT”

Stating that it may take 2 years for the mouse experiments to be completed, Sancar pointed out that these studies are usually long and expensive, and often do not yield results.

Noting that at this stage, he sees the success rate of this invention in human treatment as 3 percent, Sancar said to cancer patients, “My message is, be optimistic, try to do the best with the current possibilities.” he called.

Emphasizing that successful treatments have been carried out in Turkey in this regard, Sancar continued as follows:

“A patient’s father showed me a summary of the interventions done to his daughter. Our Turkish doctors are far ahead of many European countries and many states of the USA in the field of surgery, very successful and modern surgeries can be performed and successful results can be obtained. So stay optimistic. However, this EdU is not at the stage to be used at the moment, I hope we will get positive results, we will do something beneficial for our Turkey, our people and humanity.”

“STOP FIGHTING”

Aziz Sancar gave the following answer to the question about the secret of his still working with such determination despite the age of 75:

“My answer to such questions is this. We Turks love to fight, I promised not to do this and I don’t. In that respect, my message to Turkish youth, and to Turkish people in general: Oh, my brother, stop fighting, stop criticizing each other, especially since this social media came out, the nation’s job was to taunt each other. I used social media for a while with the force of my friends, I saw that it does more harm than good, I don’t use it either. We are born into this world, we will leave something good and pass away, that’s my opinion. Doing something positive like this, you know, I’m very nationalist, everybody knows, it’s what makes me happy when I contribute to Turkey, the Turkish world and humanity in general.”
