The spy thriller The Day of the Jackal just came to Peacock and Sky in series form last month. Since then, Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) has been attracting attention as a hit man.
After seven out of ten published episodes, Variety now gives the all-clear for fans of the format: Season 2 is confirmed. This message self-destructs.
The Day of the Jackal: That’s what the spy thriller is about
The Day of the Jackal is about that professional killer known as jackal (Redmayne) from Great Britain. After one of his most recent assignments, young MI6 intelligence officer Bianca Pullman (Lashana Lynch) becomes aware of him – and a deadly game of cat and mouse begins.
Incidentally, the series adaptation by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy) is not the first adaptation of the Frederick Forsyth novel. There are already two adaptations in film form: The Jackal from 1973 and The Jackal from 1997. The title role was played by Edward Fox and Bruce Willis respectively.
Eddie Redmayne, who is currently starring in The Day of the Jackal, is also one of the format’s executive producers. And he can be proud: his series gets 84 percent in the Rotten Tomatoes review average, and at least a 7.4 in the community rating on Moviepilot.
The Sky press release also states: “The series is the most successful international Sky original of all time in Germany and the second most successful series launch ever in 2024.”
New episodes are currently starting every Thursday on Sky Atlantic at 8:15 p.m. and WOW. And for even more series highlights this month:
