Sweden beat Japan 2–1 in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Sweden has already knocked down two former world champions in these World Cups.

The Women’s World Cup will have a new world champion. The matter was confirmed in the second quarter-final match.
Sweden now defeated the previous world champion for the second time in a row, when the blue and yellow defeated Japan 2–1.
Sweden previously sensationally knocked out the United States in the quarterfinals after a dramatic penalty shootout. The United States had won the previous two World Cups. Japan, on the other hand, was the world champion in 2011.
