The Jalisco Next Generation Cartel (CJNG), considered Mexico’s largest criminal organization, was hit. In the statement made by the Mexican Ministry of Defense (SEDENA), it was stated that Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed Tony Montana, brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed CJNG leader El Mencho, was captured in an operation by the Mexican army on a property in the city of Tlajomulco de Zuniga in the state of Jalisco.
It was stated that Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, who was stated to have undertaken various duties in the cartel thanks to his brother, was involved in money laundering on behalf of the cartel, buying large amounts of weapons and organizing attacks against other criminal organizations.
SEDENA reported that 1 long-barreled gun, 6 pistols, 9 magazines, 2 vehicles and 1 pack of cocaine were also seized as a result of the operation, which was supported by the teams of the National Guard and the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor. Authorities also stated that this incident was a major blow to one of the criminal organizations in the country, as Antonio Oseguera Cervantes played an important role in the financial and logistics activities of the cartel and led many acts of violence.
ON THE MOST WANTED LIST IN USA
Cervantes, who is on the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) most wanted list, is also accused of money laundering by the US Treasury Department. The head of the CJNG leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, nicknamed El Mencho, was awarded a $10 million reward by the US Government. (UAV)
