There is an MMORPG on sale on Steam that is otherwise never discounted

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

As part of the Steam Summer Sales, there are also some interesting offers for MMORPGs. Among other things, the Guild Wars 1 trilogy was reduced. It’s been around for 14 years now, but it’s hardly ever been reduced during that time. Now you can save 50%.

What is the offer? You can get the trilogy on Steam for 14.99 instead of 29.99 euros. Included are:

  • Guild Wars Prophecies
  • Guild Wars Factions
  • Guild Wars Nightfall
  • The only thing missing for the full Guild Wars 1 experience is the Eye of the North expansion – the only part that cannot be played standalone. This expansion currently costs 19.99 euros on Steam and brings the least content overall.

Why is the sale so special? While Guild Wars 1 hasn’t received any major content updates since the release of GW2, it’s still going strong. “Quality of Life” updates are made irregularly and the player base is still solid.

But even though the game doesn’t get any updates, the price hasn’t been reduced in years. Sales are also the exception. In the MMORPG reddit, users are surprised that GW1 is now on sale:

  • ZanshinMindState writes, “That’s a big deal as it almost never gets reduced.”
  • ZenfulRPG says “I’m shocked it’s actually on sale.”
  • Some also share the good memories they have of Guild Wars 1 on reddit.

Guild Wars 1 has a special skill system that is still playable today

What makes the game so special? Guild Wars 1 is not a classic MMORPG, because you only meet other players in cities. If you enter an area, you are only with your group, as you know it from dungeons.

But this special feature also has great advantages: there is no respawn in the areas, a hard mode and even achievements if you can defeat all opponents in them.

In addition, there is the special skill system:

  • Each of the 10 classes has access to over 250 unique skills.
  • In addition to their main class, everyone can also learn a second class and gain access to a further 250 skills.
  • However, you can only take 8 abilities into an area. So you have to decide in advance which skills are needed for each area.
  • With the hero system, you can theoretically do everything in the game on your own. Heroes are NPCs that you can unlock, equip, skill and take with you to the areas. You have access to multiple healers, tanks, or DDs depending on how you want to build your party.

Guild Wars 1 is graphically outdated, but has many tactical and unique elements.

The max level in the game is 20. This is usually reached after a few hours of play. Even the maximum equipment can be farmed as a veteran in a short time. In return, it is worth putting on several sets of armor with different attributes.

What about player numbers? In April 2022, the developers revealed that the number of players tripled in 2021. You can still find quite a few players in the big cities and you can even switch between European and American servers at any time. That’s especially important when you’re playing in shifts during weak times in Europe.
