There is a technology in German YouTube that can please stop immediately

In the conflict between the German streamers KuchenTV and Shurjoka, there is a technique on YouTube that MeinMMO author Schuhmann dislikes: accelerating and pitching voices from the other side. Some people find these grotesquely distorted Mickey Mouse voices funny, but that’s not possible.

Which trend is annoying?

  • In KuchenTV’s Christmas special about Shurjoka, many of the streamer’s statements were played at multiple speeds and with an unpleasantly distorted voice tone.
  • Some KuchenTV fans are happy that the streamer speaks in a pitched “Mickey Mouse” voice.
  • But even MontanaBlack says he can hardly stand Shurjoka’s audio track with this fast-forward speed. And I have to agree with that.

    Unfair, manipulative and disrespectful

What advantages does this measure have? Viewed from KuchenTV’s perspective, the advantages are clear:

  • The video has more speed this way – any redundancies in the verbal contributions are skipped
  • The quote passages that are beyond his control take up less space in the video
  • The percentage of his speech increases, which is what the audience is there for – they want to hear him and his opinion
  • What’s the problem with this trend?

Distorting the other side’s voice has several problems:

  • It’s unfair: the arguments of the other side are distorted: Due to the increased speed, there is no emphasis or emotionality in Shurjoka’s verbal contributions. You are immediately taken against everything she says. All empathy is separated.
  • It’s manipulative: Because Shurjoka appears so grotesquely distorted, it gives the impression that she is nervous and speaks confusedly, as if intoxicated. It also seems just as dubious when KuchenTV disguises its own voice and repeats the arguments of the opposing side in order to underline how stupid he thinks they are.
  • It’s disrespectful: While the opinion blogger takes a lot of time for his own contributions, underlining them with grand gestures or comic excerpts, the “fast-forward speed” makes it clear: what she says doesn’t actually play a big role. Swam over it.
  • This is a technique that really needs to be stopped as soon as possible. MontanaBlack is absolutely right here.

The conflict between KuchenTV and Shurjoka has been going on for several months now and has, among other things, led to the opinion blogger being banned from Twitch:
