Are you tired of pages that take a long time to open and videos that don’t play? The device you hold in your hands every day has the solution.
TEveryone has encountered connection problems at least once in their life. Whether in the middle of playing a video game that has been running for hours or sending an important file to work, these situations are very often embarrassing. However, if you are looking for a way to boost your WiFi connection at home or outside, there is a method that will not require any additional equipment.
What if we told you that a small everyday device was capable of achieving such a technical feat ? As you might have guessed, this is the smartphone you probably need to hold in your hands right now. Today, nothing escapes mobile phones equipped with the most advanced technologies. But more concretely, what does this method consist of? ?
Your phone acts as a well-known device, the Wi-Fi repeater. Its main function is to extend network coverage to areas where reception is weaker. Therefore, it is possible to do the same thing with your cell phone. When you are at home or away and the connection seems poor, simply place your smartphone at an approximately equal distance between the Box and the connection terminal (your computer, a tablet or even another phone) .
Before enabling tethering, it is very important to ensure that your cell phone is properly connected to a working Wi-Fi network. You can then decide to connect your laptop or tablet to this mobile using a USB cable or directly with a router. If you do not want to bother with a cable, it is possible to opt for the Bluetooth connection solution.
The steps to follow to activate connection sharing on an Android smartphone:
- To get started, you have to go to the application Settings of your smartphone then select the menu “Network and Internet“.
- Once you have completed this step, you must choose the option “Mobile hotspot and tethering“.
- You can set up a password or change it to one that is easier to remember by selecting “Device password“. After typing your password, tap OK.
- After that, you just need to enable tethering by flipping the switch. You can choose to enable sharing via USB, Ethernet or Bluetooth as needed.
- You must then select the name of the Wifi which is on your mobile phone, from your computer or tablet, then enter the configured password. After the first connection, the password is remembered automatically.
For IOS users, here are the few steps to follow:
- First, open the app Settings from your mobile phone and click on the menu “sharing the line“.
- Once in the tethering settings, all you have to do is move the cursor in front of the option “Authorize other users“.
- Finally, you must enter the password previously defined on the sending device to initiate sharing.
If you want to turn tethering on and off, with just a few clicks you can navigate through the quick shortcuts panel for each smartphone. Just swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom.
Be careful though since this method of connection sharing consumes a lot of energy and battery life is strongly impacted. We advise you to use it occasionally.
