This weekend it may rain heavily in the southern parts of Sweden, and SMHI has warned of floods and thunderstorms.
– Locally, there can be really large amounts of rain, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Lovisa Svanberg.
SMHI has issued a yellow warning for torrential rain in parts of southern and eastern Götaland and Gotland.
During the night towards Saturday, a low pressure moves in over Sweden from the south. Over southern Götaland and Gotland, up to 60 millimeters of rain can fall in a short time, and according to SMHI, there is also a risk of floods and severe thunderstorms.
– Locally, there can be really large amounts of rain in connection with the low pressure moving in, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Lovisa Svanberg.
Windy on the Baltic Sea
During Wednesday, large parts of Götaland and parts of Svealand were affected by heavy rain. Jönköping was hit hard with extensive flooding on the E4 and many flooded homes.
– It doesn’t look like there will be the same amount of rain on Saturday, but the risk is there, says Lovisa Svanberg.
The forecast is uncertain and it is difficult to say which areas will be worst affected by the storm.
– It will also be very windy in parts of the Baltic Sea on Saturday, so it can get really noisy in some places, says Lovisa Svanberg.
The warning applies from two o’clock on the night of Saturday in southern Götaland, nine o’clock on Saturday morning in eastern Götaland, and twelve o’clock on Saturday for Gotland.
