Foreign language proficiency, which is indispensable for career life, is the worst nightmare for most of us. English Instructor Metanet Dalgül, on the other hand, argues that learning a foreign language, especially English, is simpler and permanent with the mind coding method. Dalgül said, “Learning a language seems like an insurmountable obstacle for many people. However, it is possible to learn a foreign language at the neuron level with the mind coding method, which is one of the best scientifically proven methods of achieving mother tongue fluency.
“ADULT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT NEEDS”
Stating that language education is given according to the levels at the primary school level due to the age of the children, but adults have to express themselves in a foreign language as in their mother tongue in professional life, Dalgül said, “It is enough for children to express the topics that they can talk in daily life at a limited depth level. Because the vocabulary and language skills are already at this level in their mother tongue. Adults, however, have different needs. “Most people need language in professional life, some in academia, most in social life, when traveling, to meet and communicate with foreign cultures and people.”
“There are 2 FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO AN ADULT”
Arguing that in the first stage of education in a foreign language, the features that differ from the mother tongue should be taught and applied simultaneously, Dalgül said, “There are two biggest factors to consider when teaching a language to an adult. The mother tongue phenomenon in the adult mind has been completed. That is, an adult has defined all the concepts in life in his mother tongue and has put his logic in his mother tongue. If the expression style, pattern, sentence in a foreign language does not match with the adult’s native language, which often does not, that person tries to learn the language by memorizing. That is, even if he memorizes the language whose logic he does not understand, he cannot use it reflexively when he feels the need to use it, or when he uses it, he expresses himself very differently or incorrectly from what he wants to express. For this reason, an adult must first learn the logic of structures in a foreign language. The second important factor is the lack of a certain level of concepts that an adult needs in natural life. If an adult’s brain can construct these sentences in its own language, it can easily learn to express it in a foreign language. Leaving an adult procrastinating in simple concepts for months or years harms their motivation and stability and negatively affects the language acquisition process. So he interrupts the education process,” she said.
MIND CODING METHOD
Metanet Dalgül says, “Even if you start a foreign language from scratch, you can permanently learn and apply everything you have learned at the neuron level with adequate mind training.” He answered the question as follows:
“With drilling, shadowing, micro-listening and micro-pronunciation techniques, people are able to convey what they want to say quickly in their minds, without the need to memorize phonetic alphabets, without doing too much writing-oriented work, and they do this with a natural, correct pronunciation. when they improve their pronunciation, their listening comprehension rate increases automatically. Now they understand faster speech better and they do not experience any disconnection in communication.
One of the biggest problems of language learners is that they do not think of what they know while speaking. That is, there is information, but it is not active. Because they go through a passive learning process. The process, in which only listening, reading and writing-oriented, long-term speaking exercises are not carried out, makes people who are not open to communication even more introverted.
People who receive language training with the mind coding method experience that the natural speaking environment is not as tense as an exam and they become mentally ready for it. He reinforces the situational dialogues that he has trained with a different individual he does not know each time, with practice.
Dalgul continued:
ARTICLE 1: CODE WITH MIND
So, how can one learn a foreign language with the mind coding method? First, the adult brain tries to memorize things it doesn’t understand the logic of. The information it memorizes stays in short-term memory, that is, it remembers temporarily. For this reason, an adult should first understand the differences in perspective between foreign language and native language structure, the way foreign language speakers express thought. In this way, the information they acquire visually, audibly and tactilely in a foreign language will make sense to them and they will have successfully completed the first step to store the information in the long-term memory, the Coding into the Mind stage.
ARTICLE 2: PROCESS IN MIND
Once you have coded the information in your mind, you are not immediately ready to express it reflexively. For this, you need to process the coded grammar and phrases correctly in your mind. How is the mental processing process? This process is carried out not with ‘write the appropriate answer to the blanks’ type studies written in language education books, which have nothing to do with your own experience, but on the contrary, with active work and mind training in which you integrate the foreign language into your life.
First of all, every day, by reading and listening to the short and up-to-date news on the topics you are interested in, watching videos about your interests, listening to songs in a foreign language every day, which is the most effective method for you to improve your micro-listening/pronunciation skills. Integrate the foreign language into your natural life by saying Then take a video or audio recording by summarizing and explaining what you have listened/read. After that, you will be able to observe yourself well while watching the video recording. You will be able to see easily what you do well and what you want to improve. At the same time, you will have experienced how you can be heard from the outside while speaking, which will increase your self-confidence and allow you to express yourself more comfortably. In this way, instead of a language far from natural life as written in the books, you will learn a more up-to-date language that you can use comfortably in a communication language.
ARTICLE 3: GENERATE IN MIND
Write the grammar and phrases you learned the logic of, the sentence structures in sentences describing your own experiences about the areas you can use in your own life. Reinforce what you have written by recording audio/video without wasting any time. Because after you first encode the information strongly, it must immediately process the information so that your speech muscles adapt to speech in a foreign language, and you learn permanently by making the electrical current between neurons structural.
During the day, while walking on the road, driving a car, while on a coffee break, silently produce in your mind all the actions you take, every situation you see in that foreign language. By doing this, you keep the information you have learned and processed fresh and active by re-igniting the neurons, and you will be ready to speak fluently, that is reflexively, in times of need, without thinking for a long time, without getting stuck.”
