Leksand comes from a good season in the SHL, but the spring and summer have been fraught with heavy player losses. The club has had a handful of players who have signed for NHL clubs, and it is currently unclear what set they will have on players for the coming season.
Confirms interest
In addition, the superstar Max Véronneau, who was perhaps the SHL’s best player last season, left for the San Jose Sharks, and they also bet on Peter Cehlarik, who was long rumored to the club.
Cehlarik had a great success with Leksand during the 2021/2022 season, and was also visiting this spring. But his choice ultimately fell on the Swiss champions EV Zug, and Leksand is still looking for that prestige acquisition that will only throw in points. And now maybe he’s been found.

According to Expressen, the club is in final negotiations with the points shooter John Quenneville, who most recently comes from Zurich, where last season there were 37 points in 46 matches.
And general manager Thomas Johansson does not deny that there is interest.
– John is out on the market. There are not that many players of that dignity on the market, he says to Hockeypuls.
Quenneville was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NHL draft, and has since made nearly 40 appearances in the world’s best league. Leksand was interested in the forward already last year, but then he chose Zurich. However, Thomas Johansson believes that Leksand will face tough competition in a recruitment.
– He has been there. But like this, we are not alone in looking at that type of player. That’s how it is.
