A wild triple jump final
The triple jump final of the Paris Olympics was the toughest in history.

Algerian Yasser Mohammed Triki was the last man out of the last three rounds with a result of 17.22. Previously, the worst result that had been eliminated from the further rounds was 16.95.
Today, Jordan Diaz, who represents Spain, grabbed the first Olympic medal of his career as a follow-up to the European Championship gold in the summer. He won gold with his first round result of 17.86. Before today, Spain had no medals in the men’s triple jump and only one final place from 1968.
Portuguese Pedro Pichardo lost to Diaz by only two centimeters – the smallest margin of victory ever. Italy took the bronze Andy Diaz Hernandezwho jumped the best ever bronze medal at the Olympics, 17.64.
All three medalists were born in Cuba, but defected to Europe during their careers.
