Many French people are eligible for aid without even knowing it. A site launched a few years ago by the administration allows you to do a simulation in just a few clicks. It costs nothing to check!
Social assistance is numerous in France, and generally, we look into it especially when we change our situation, by becoming a parent for example. Indeed, there are numerous family allowances when a baby is born (birth bonus, Paje, family supplement, CMG, etc.). But other social benefits such as the activity bonus, the energy check, school scholarships, housing assistance, school meals or even aid intended for the elderly are also part of the financial aid to which you are eligible. And there are 58 of them! Moreover, a good number of French people are eligible, but do not apply. Quite simply because they don’t know that they could benefit from it.
Indeed, it is sometimes difficult to know exactly what you might be entitled to. And for good reason: each social assistance generally depends on the household income, the situation and the number of dependent children. The resource ceilings change every year, and it is difficult to navigate. To facilitate this process, the French administration launched the site a few years ago Mesdroitssociaux.gouv.fr which allows, in a few clicks, to discover all the social benefits that you can request among the 58 national and local aids.
To carry out a simulation, you will need some documents such as your pay slips, your last income tax notice, the rental contract for your accommodation, the amounts of your current aid and your last property tax notice if you are an owner (excluding main residence). Then, simply let yourself be guided by providing information relating to your household, your accommodation (if you live in an apartment or a house), your resources (earnings, alimony, bonuses, etc.), as well as your financial and real estate assets.
Here are the 19 national social benefits that exist:
- Retirement: ASPA – Solidarity Allowance for the Elderly.
- Employment-related aid: PPA – Activity Bonus, ASS – Specific Solidarity Allowance.
- Health-related aid: ASI – Supplementary Disability Allowance, CSS – Supplementary Solidarity Health.
- Housing assistance: AL – Housing Assistance, Energy Check, Social Housing.
- Solidarity: RSA – Active Solidarity Income, AAH – Allowance for Disabled Adults, MVA – Increase for Independent Living, Youth Guarantee, APA – Personalized Autonomy Allowance, Popular Savings Booklet.
- Aid for families: AF – Family Allowances, ASF – Family Support Allowance, CF – Family Supplement, PAJE – Basic Allowance, College Grant, High School Grant.
Numerous local aids are also offered by the cities for the elderly or families, for transport, but also young people and students, etc. For example: Paris Housing Single Parent Families, Paris Energy Families, Complément Santé Paris; Solidarity Pricing for Transport in Rennes and Brest; Vehicle loan in Eure et Loir; Home meals for the elderly or disabled; Large family scholarship in Antony, etc.
