Just a few days ago we reported that the next offshoot of the Predator series is officially on its way to cinemas. In November 2025, the science fiction series continues on the big screen with Predator: Badlands. As it turns out, that’s not all. There is another film.
Battered sci-fi series thrives again: Secret Predator film appears before Badlands
The Hollywood Reporter recently published an interview about the future of 20th Century Studios. In it, Steve Asbell, president of the Disney-based studio, reveals that in addition to Badlands, there is another second Predator film made that the world previously knew nothing about. And it should be published soon.
Specifically, Asbell says:
After success [des Predator-Prequels] Prey came [Regisseur] Dan [Trachtenberg] back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2. And we said, ‘What do you want to do then?’ And him rattled off a bunch of ideaswhich were pretty crazy but really cool.
And now it gets exciting:
We actually implemented two of them. Two [Predator-Filme] coming out next year. I can’t say anything about one yet, but the other is the live-action Predator starring Elle Fanning, which just finished in New Zealand. It will be in theaters sometime next year.
The big question now, of course, is: What exactly is hidden behind the secret Predator film? Asbell only reveals that it was also directed by Dan Trachtenberg and still before (!) Predator: Badlands appears. If we look closely at Asbell’s statement, two more details can be gleaned.
Is the secret Predator movie coming to Disney+? And could it be an animated sci-fi adventure?
Asbell emphasizes that Badlands is coming to theaters. When it comes to the secret Predator film, however, he leaves it open whether it is a project for the big screen or for streaming acts. He also describes Badlands as a live-action film, which is strange since all Predator films so far have been released in live-action form.
Why does he mention the live-action aspect? Could be the secret Predator film an animated film be? That would explain how the project could be kept secret for so long. An animated film can be made in a more controlled environment than a live-action film with studio shooting and real locations.
But so far this is just speculation. Are official no further information known. The Hollywood Reporter still sends a question: If the Predator franchise is currently blossoming, can we also look forward to another encounter with the eerie creature from an alien world?
Concrete plans for one new Alien vs. Predator film is not yet available at 20th Century Studios. Asbell’s answer still raises hopes: “Probably”says the studio boss. “But we haven’t gotten that far yet. And we’re not just going to throw it out there.” So for now the focus is on the individual rows.
