Then your tax refund may be smooth – before you even get it

Then your tax refund may be smooth before you

Many Swedes have already declared and for some tax refunds may be to be expected already in April. But anyone who has been told that they will receive a tax refund will not receive any money paid.

It was March 18 that people with e-identification, and who provided digital mailbox by March 2, could go in and declare at the Swedish Tax Agency.

On the same day, however, the authority was subjected to an overload attack, which affected the opportunity to log in to the “My Pages” service and other e-services.

-We have a good organization to meet this type of attack, but unfortunately it means today that we have still had interference in our e-services, said Peder SjölanderIT Director at the Swedish Tax Agency, I a press release when.

Despite the problems, however, many people declared already during the first day: 1,422,000 approved and submitted their declarations during the first 24 hours.

-Everyone with e-identification has been able to log in and look at their declaration from March 7 this year and have had a week to go through the declaration. We have seen an increased interest in declaring earlier for several years, which has contributed to a record number of declarations on the first day, has Jan Janowskideclaration expert at the Swedish Tax Agency, said in a press release.

How many declared last year?

In 2024, 8.4 million people declared. 92 percent of these declared digitally.

4.4 million people received their final tax announcement in April. This is an increase of 26 percent compared to the year before.

In the declaration, it has been stated whether to pay withholding tax, for example if an employer has deducted too little tax during the year, or if you are to receive a tax refund, which may be the case if the employer has instead deducted too much tax.

But for some – as on the paper, it seems to receive a tax refund – there will be no cliff at checkout, neither in April or June.

The Crown Magistrate shows that the person who will receive a tax refund, but who has debts with them will not receive the reimbursement.

Instead, the money will go to pay off the debt.

“Tax refunds are not affected by the so -called benefit rules, that is, money and other property that you can always keep for your own and your family’s livelihood or bankruptcy. So you must not keep the tax refund for your livelihood,” they write on it Own website.

When News24 asks Kronofogden if the size of the debt plays a role in whether all or part of the reimbursement can go to them respond Helena Esscherpress officer at the authority, like this:

– This applies regardless of the size of the debt.
