  • Speeding – can result in a fine of up to SEK 4,000.
  • Driving without a seat belt – can result in a fine of up to SEK 1,500.
  • Not following the right-hand rule – can result in a fine of up to SEK 2,000.
  • Driving without a registration plate – can result in a fine of up to SEK 1,500.
  • These traffic offenses occur while driving, but you can also be fined if you forget a specific item in the car.

The thing you must not forget in the car – can cost you dearly

Did you know you can’t leave the key in the car and then walk away?

This is common on several different occasions, for example if you have to run in and get something that you have forgotten or if you start the car for a while before you go out and drive so that it has time to warm up.

But ajabaja, this can lead to a fine of SEK 2,000. News24 have talked to Ulf Emilssonoperations expert in traffic at the police, who explains that this law exists to prevent someone unauthorized from driving your vehicle.

In the traffic regulation, it states that “suitable measures have not been taken to prevent the unauthorized use of a motorized vehicle by another person”.

This means that if you leave the car unattended with the key in it, you do not prevent someone unauthorized from using the car. You can also be convicted if you leave the car key on the tire when you are not there.

    – The provision has existed for a long time, it was even in the old road traffic announcement which ceased in 1998 when the Traffic Ordinance came into force, says Ulf Emilsson to Nyheter24.
