On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” duties will be introduced on goods from other countries.
“The customs will come into force immediately after he announced them,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt at a press conference, adding that she has just talked to Trump about the issue.
The announcement will be made at 16:00 local time, or 20.00 Swedish time, according to the White House.
In addition to tariffs at Bilimport, Trump has mentioned tariffs on data chips, medicines and timber.
In the past, Trump and the White House have announced that the customs will be tailored to each individual country based on how much customs duties they charge on US imports and how high a VAT rate they have.
Karoline Leavitt also says that Trump “is always open to other countries’ leaders who call him on customs”.
