“Then the protein powder becomes fat in the body”

Then the protein powder becomes fat in the body

A commonly occurring phenomenon in many Swedes at the beginning of the new year is the desire to change their life habits, start training and gain “a new life”. Unfortunately, many people end up in the trap where they start with some sad diet that they quickly sadden on and then fall back into their old pattern.

On social media, it is jokingly joking that the gym is almost overcrowded in January because it then ebbs out something after a few months into the year. During the training waves, many people also catch the eyes of protein powder and protein bars.

News24 has previously been in contact with the personal trainer, dietary advisor and the author David Haroun Who told us a little about how “useful” these products really are.

– Companies out there cheat a lot with their protein powder. What many do is amino nail, which is to block the protein with less qualitative protein. We say as with turkey you have on the sandwich. How much turkey is that? 100 grams or 70. The same applies to protein bars and protein powder, David says and continues:

– It may be on a bar “20 grams of protein per serving”. But it is not 20 grams of high quality protein in the majority, but they have been pushed into 10 grams worthless collagen protein. Imagine a drink in Rhodes, it’s a full drink but it’s a lot of juice and some alcohol. This is protein but it is a little full protein, says David.

– A cheap amino acid is still protein, but it is used to dilute.

So in other words, it is in terms of protein, better to jaw two eggs than a bar with glossy paper and chocolate ball flavor?

– One hundred percent yes. Or protein powder without cheating sent to lab and tested. Like my own. Note sneak advertising but that’s it, concludes David.

Professor: “One cannot store protein”

Svenska Dagbladet recently conducted an interview with Christopher Gardner, Professor at Stanford University. He says that he is disappointed that it is not only the United States that has a failed food culture but that it is all visible in Sweden as well.

Christopher believes that we people in most cases get enough of us with the food and that he never met anyone with protein deficiency.

He says that unlike carbohydrates and fat, there is no way to store protein surplus for later. So therefore extra protein supplements are burned as energy – or stored as fat.

– No, we can’t store protein. We can store carbohydrates and fat, but not protein. The first thing that happens is that the excess protein is converted into carbohydrates. And if your carbohydrate depots are full, it is stored as fat. It usually surprises many, says Christopher Gardner. to Svenska Dagbladet.

– What many people do not realize is that today’s recommendation already covers almost the entire population, including those with greater needs, he adds.
