Then summer is here – up to 29 degrees in the south

Summer, summer, summer…
Now it’s only hours away – at least if you live in southern Sweden.
– There, the high summer heat looks set to return from tomorrow, says TV4’s meteorologist Ulrika Elvgren.

In the south, high summer is just a night’s sleep away.

– Today we had close to 23 degrees. Tomorrow it will be upwards of 25 degrees, says Ulrika Elvgren.

And temperatures are expected to rise further during the week, up to 29 degrees.

– It will be really hot. On Thursday, we can probably expect the hottest day of the year, says Elvgren.

The contrast: “Hard wind and snow”

In the north, however, the cold lingers.

– We start the week with strong wind, snow and strong cold in the northern Lapland mountains, says Ulrika Elvgren and continues:

– Really rough weather for the month of June.

Even on National Day, the weather will differ greatly depending on where you are.

– Then we have a sharp border in the middle of the country where there may be some rain. And we again see a contrast with warmer temperatures in the south, but quite cool and chilly in the north for the time of year, says Ulrika Elvgren.

“The drought is worrying”

But with the heat in the south also comes a well-known downside.

– The drought is worrying. The forest fire risk is great, in some places extremely great.

There is currently a fire ban in several parts of the country and it seems that will continue. With barely three weeks left until midsummer, the grill can, in the worst case, be put away.

– Yes, it doesn’t look like there will be any relief in the form of rain in the near future, says Ulrika Elvgren.
