Several elderly people in Karlskrona have reported home thefts to the police in recent months, and all are within the same home care area, reports Blekinge läns tidning (BLT).

Karlskrona has now involved the municipality’s security officer to stop the thefts.

– It is of course something we take seriously and are therefore putting extra effort into investigating what happened. It is within a specific area and that is also why we have opened our eyes, even a little more, to the cases, says Linda Palmqvist, deputy head of the home service in Karlskrona municipality, who does not want to go into which geographical area is affected.

In one case, a home care recipient suddenly discovered that several precious pieces of jewelry were missing from the person’s jewelry box. It involved so-called Bismarck links and a number of gold rings. The value of the lost jewelery was estimated at around SEK 40,000.

After the person raised the alarm to the municipality’s head of unit, the municipality lex Sarah-reported the incident to the Inspectorate for Care and Care, Ivo, according to BLT.

The municipality’s elderly administration is now investigating which employees were on duty with the person during the period when the Bismarck links are suspected of having disappeared.
